Target Bernburg/Germany



This Hampden I of the 44 Sqn crashed 13/14 August 1940 after flak hits. The plane go done south of Oosthuizen/Netherland, 18 km east-south-east Alkmaar/Netherland
The crew F/O H P Clarke, Sgt F M Wilkes, Sgt G E Harris and Sgt J L Brooks was POW.


Some mission details:

At this day 62 Hampdens and Wellingtons to 5 widely spreads targets in Germany. 35 Whitleys to Milan and Turin/Italy, 6 Blenheims to airfields and seaplane base at Brest/France and 2 Wellingtons to made photos from Stettin and Swinemünde/Germany. Losses: 1 Hampden
Hampden P2077 started at Waddington, Lincolsnire/England.

In the night 12./13.August 1940 about 54 allied aircrafts over germany mainly over the Deutsche Bucht and Baltic-sea entrances. Mine-drops probable.

4 HE-bombs (2 with timer) on canal-bridge
(Alte Fahrt) Füstrup. 1 bomb into the canal, which is leaking now between kilometer 71 and 78,9, traffic stop for about 2-3 weeks, one bomb with timer lies directly beside barrier-gate at km 78,9.
Misburg:
(Deurag and Nerag) 1 HE-bomb into the
water-treatment-basin. Hünxe b.Dinslaken: Incendiary-sheets into wheat-fields, light damage

Jena:
(Zeiss-works) 1 bomb with timer

Rü In X:

Helmighausen:
3 HE-bombs, near the airport on railway
Löningen – Meppen, 5m tracks damaged
